The Wave Pictures return with new a single taken from the forthcoming album Beer In The Breakers (out May 2nd on Moshi Moshi Records). Poignant and articulate, it's the story of fleeting memories retold with an alluring innocence.Still in possession of the eclectic humour and folksy charm that has come to define The Wave Pictures, Little Surprise draws its appeal from the happenstance of its recording process. The hum and buzz of background noise makes the resulting recording homely, imperfect and unique to its time and place. Vocalist Dave Tattersall sheds some light on the lyrical content – "I wrote these lyrics in a bar in Munich, hungover, first thing in the morning. The lyrics describe a scene involving two people who work there having some kind of squabble. It's terribly mysterious. One of them has "a little surprise up his sleeve", but we never find out what it is".
