Single released 18/06/2007
"Radiating a glorious optimism that could only have been made by two Nivea-young Swedish kids called August and Leo, 'City' is a devilishly simple, sweet, euphoric electronic pop record which stands alone, leaving the rest of the art-housey-music crowd to shake their heads in dismay at their messy bedroom-studios and noisy Francophile dispositions. But don't let all this talk of electronic pop and bedroom studios lead you to believe that Lo-Fi-Fnk aren't versed in the craft of sweatbox party throwing. There's an innate aptitude for the most rave-perfect synths and nonchalent hipster harmonies all steeped in year 2000 pop culture hedonism on here - its still music for a grinning (in a cutesy not menacing way) party loon. Lo-Fi-Fnk's 'Boylife' was released last year, but for those who were sleeping, Moshi Moshi have just re-released it and 'City' will be one of those twee 7" releases that are in part responsible for kids buying vinyl again. The Teenagers take control of the remix on the b-side, bringing that strange Parisian Joy(ful) division sound..." [One week To LIve City Single Review]
"They've been giving wimpy electro-indie boys a good name since 2006 and Stockholm's Lo-Fi-Fnk duo continue their naive melody grub-fest with 'City'. If their past masterpiece 'Change Channel' was a bit like Kraftwerk being fed explosives, 'City' brings to mind Daft Punk taking off their robot hemets after much heeing and hawing to reveal ripped gimp masks with traces of amyl nitrate pouring out of their gobs. So we guess the 'City' they're singing about probably isn't Coventry" [NME Single Review]
