Hercules & Love Affair kick off 2011 with the infectious 'My House', the first release from sophomore album Blue Songs. On 'My House'; disco and house electrifyingly converge, subtlety smudged with exotic Latino sentiments, all melded together by the vocal of one Shaun J Wright, discovered by Butler in the front row of a HALA show. Rising above the uniformly dense crop of current dance music, Hercules & Love Affair offer something different. Their debut was a gloriously burnished fusion of three decades of dance, from disco to house, acid to synth-pop, Derrick May to Giorgio Moroder. With Blue Songs the classic disco sound remains intact but Andy Butler wanted to reveal more about his world and his songwriting, resulting in a more, honest and yet more universal record.
