Best Fwends

Alphabetically Arranged

released 21/05/2007

Discovered by Moshi Moshi Records whilst holidaying in the USA in
2003, BestFwends consists of Dustin Pilkington (23) and Anthony Davis
(21). Two friends turned business partners, who in their own words,
started making music "in a desperate attempt to make something out of
themselves".

How best to describe their music? "Retarded anti-pop music made by two
musical idiot savants from Texas with a cheap computer" is one
cheerful description that's been offered up. But hold up, this is all
sounding a little too self deprecating a little too early on for my
liking..Two pubescent Beastie Boys let loose in Toys R Us with some
RRRRRROCK guitars, some choice hip hop beats and other random noises
thrown in for good measure doesn't quite come close enough, nor do it
justice..but it'll do.

Whoah. Hold up. Come back! Don't be put off - BF are actually very
nice boys. Surprisingly sane in fact. And teetotal. Although that
doesn't detract from the fact that heir longest song is around the 2
minute mark..And the A.D.D doesn't stop there: refusing to stick with
one genre for long, hip hop, garage punk, house, all get the Best
Fwends twist on their debut album 'Alphabetically Arranged' out on
June 4th.

In the band's words, the record "contains some of the best and worst
songs we've made over the past four years. We'll let you decide which
is which..Some of the songs make us cringe. Some make us laugh. Others
you will want to put on repeat because they sound so damn good."
There's no doubt about it, these guys are musical marmite. Its
confusing and disorientating, exhilarating and exhausting. An aural
assault that can only really be appreciated by cranking up the volume
and jumping right on in. Then sticking it out. But perseverance will
be truly rewarded - at some point it will suddenly all make sense and
you will start laughing hysterically at the sheer audacious genius of
the whole thing. Possibly.

Live, BestFwends' show consists of yelling, warbling in and (mostly)
out of key, bouncing, moshing, surfing, head banging, crowd taunting,
bleeding, sweating and gasping for air. Their backing band is an ipod.
Ant and Dustin have already toured on the "Don't Need A Stage"
circuit, in the style of acts like Lightening Bolt and Coachwhips -
performing in their underpants with taped-up faces.
