Formed 2 years ago in Brooklyn, NYC, Matt & Kim (one originally from Vermont, the other Rhode Island) started life as an unlikely musical outfit. Kim had never played drums (although she loved watching/scrutinising drummers, or anything remotely beat-related), neither had Matt played keyboards (until he found "a really cool set" in his neighbour's garage that is), They had already established themselves as a successful and fruitful creative pairing however, having worked closely on art and film projects together. And so, fecund music-making followed suit..
Listing "guilty pleasures" amongst their musical influences, Matt & Kim are quite simply, a lot of fun. They make you wanna dance. Their live shows have been known to descend into Sweeny Todd-esque frenzies of fake blood, missing limbs and gore, on stage pizza parties, or at the very least, sweaty, dancey, messy, crowd-surfing-fuelled sing-alongs..What can I say? They love to play and they're a band who (thankfully) don't take themselves too seriously. What a relief.
